It is with mixed emotions we inform our community that our executive director, James Rosnau, is moving on. James will be leaving our Association, with proper notice, on February 28, 2024.
In the 9 years James has been with Athletics Alberta, he served this community with sincerity, exceptional business acumen, and a fierce drive to grow and evolve this Association in Alberta. James’s accomplishments include:
- Increasing the membership by 80% since he took the reins as executive director.
- Managed the development and growth of the Mini Legends Program from its infancy to reaching over 14,000 children in 2023 with this physical literacy program. Further, this program is positioned to expand nationally in 2024 through his development efforts.
- Successfully secured Edmonton and Athletics Alberta on the Athletics Canada Continental Tour, obtaining Silver level status, and bringing high performing international athletes, along with Team Canada, to this event. This position on the Tour continues in 2024.
- Working with sports partners, received $75,000 in funding from the City of Edmonton to explore and develop a business case to redevelop the Edmonton Expo Centre into the Western Canada Sports Hub, including an indoor banked track. This project is ongoing.
Please join us in thanking James for his remarkable contributions to our sport in Alberta. We will miss him dearly and congratulate him on his new role as General Manager of the Belvedere Golf & Country Club.
The job opening for the Executive Director role will be posted in the coming days.
